Applied to robot cars, the trolley problem looks something like this:Do you remember that day when you lost your mind? Did your robot car make the right decision? Superman may be faulted for not stopping a bullet, but you can't be; and robot cars are superheroes, compared to ordinary cars. The human driver used to be liable for accidents caused by her or his decisions; now that liability is shifting to the AI driver that's capable of saving lives. Robot cars are coming our way, and that's fine if they can save lives, reduce emissions, and live up to other promises.
