Herald: Moitra urges Centre to ensure proper legal representation in Old Goa bungalow case


In a letter to the Union Minister, Moitra expressed shock over how time and again the owners of the said illegal construction i.e. “If only, the proper procedure was complied with by the concerned government departments, the said orders would neither have been stayed nor quashed. It is absolutely clear that this illegal construction is being protected by certain individuals within the government departments by deliberately not complying with the due process and the procedures established by law,” Mahua stated. “As a result, the owners of this illegal construction are able to exploit technical loopholes to avoid demolition of the illegal construction and prosecution for their wrongdoings. The writ Petition pertaining to the illegal Old Goa bungalow is scheduled to be heard before the High Court of Bombay at Goa on November 15.
