The Goa government had filed contempt petitions in 2018 and 2019 against the Karnataka government for illegally diverting Mhadei river water for its Kalasa and Bhandura nala project. Besides this, the three riparian States ie Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra have filed special leave petitions (SLP) challenging the Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal’s award over allocation of water.
