After chairing the CCP ordinary meeting, Mayor Rohit Monserrate said that the CCP had already lost Rs 20 crore due to delay in signing agreement with the shopkeepers and traders in the Panjim municipal market. “There are nearly 400 traders in the new market but as per the records of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) there are only 160 traders and the CCP will first sign agreement with these registered traders”, he said. During the meeting, Surendra Furtado made some valuable suggestions regarding signing of lease agreement with the traders for a period of 30 years. He sought to know whether such long lease agreement can be granted by the CCP under its Act, since earlier it was mentioned that the CCP has power to give premises on a leave and licence basis .
