09 Mar 2024| 06:11am IST2014 to be cut-off year for Comunidades to regularise encroachments: MinisterTeam HeraldPANJIM: Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate on Friday said that the State government will bring in amendments to the Code of Comunidades and frame rules to give more powers to Comunidades to regularise lands encroached prior to 2014. Speaking to mediapersons, Monserrate said that Comunidades following amendments, will be given powers to take the decisions regarding these encroachments including fixing of the price for the land. According to Monserrate, Comunidades will only have the power to regularise the encroached land, for regularisation of constructions i.e. The Minister further clarified that only land on which residential houses are there will be regularised and not land used for commercial activities. Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, who was also present, clarified that illegal houses without Enabling House Number (EHN) in village panchayat areas will not be regularised.
