In Laconia, Cub Scout Pack 68 was selected as one of the 15 New Hampshire packs to welcome girls this winter. Though Pack 68 is based in Laconia, its scouts can come from any town. Boy Scouts, she has observed, is a more structured program and curriculum, while Girl Scouting is led by its members. For example, her girl scouts decided they wanted to have a soap box derby, so they’ve arranged to hold one this spring. Due to a recent policy change, Emily will be able to choose between Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts – her mother plans to sign her up for Cub Scouts.
