The wages of Hong Kong's foreign domestic helpers was raised marginally last year and will remain that way. Wages of the more than 390,000 foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong will remain at last year's level of HK$4,630 per month, and the food allowance will also stay unchanged at HK$1,121 per month. In September last year, wages were increased by a meager 2.4 percent, or HK$110, to HK$4,630 a month.The food allowance was raised by HK$46, or 4.3 percent to HK$1,121 per month. The Labour Department said today in a statement, it has “carefully considered Hong Kong's general economic and labor market conditions over the past year, as well as Hong Kong's near-term economic outlook, including the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.''
