KUALA LUMPUR: The federal Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) wants all parents who send their children to tahfiz to contact the department to check on the safety status of their schools. It is also issuing an order today to all state FRDs to conduct checks on all tahfiz schools in their respective jurisdictions. Its deputy director-general Datuk Soiman Jahid said the measures are being taken to prevent fire tragedies involving religious schools from recurring. "We are going to issue an order to all state FRDs by today to inspect all tahfiz schools in their respective states. "We want to ensure that we do not overlook tahfiz schools that are not registered with the authorities.
