You could save big bucks by driving a rental car — and help ease the post-Irma rental car shortage there as well. With many driving out of the state, there is now a shortage of rental vehicles in Florida. Avis and Budget Car Rental are offering one-way rates from the Northeast to Florida for as low as $5 per day from now through Oct. 31. Avis is offering Economy (group A), Compact (group B), Midsize (group C), Standard (group D) and Full Size (group E) vehicles starting at $5 per day.
