Heke to face three charges of attempted murder


Photo: PoliceAlleged Morrinsville shooter Rollie Heke has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after his arrest earlier today. Heke, one of New Zealand's most wanted men was arrested almost two weeks after he allegedly shot at police officers in Morrinsville, Waikato. Waikato District Commander Superintendent Bruce Bird said Heke faces charges of of unlawful possession of a firearm, failing to stop and possession of equipment to manufacture methamphetamine. Heke was set to appear in Rotorua District Court this afternoon, Supt Bird said. Police superintendent Bruce Bird said Heke had been arrested "without incident and without undue risk to the community".
