Hefazat-e-Islam has apologised for the reported assault on several journalists during its rally held at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong on Friday. In it, he apologised for the “unruly behaviour of some youths”, while maintaining that they do not put up unlawful acts. Terming the incident as “unexpected” and “isolated”, he said Hefazat would remain alert so that such incident never recurs in future. Three broadcast journalists of two private television channels allegedly came under assault on Friday while covering the Hefazat rally. The journalists who came under assault were identified as Channel 24 cameraperson Selim Ullah, Channel 24 correspondent Zubayer Manjur and Banglavision cameraperson Saiful Islam.
