Its military, NATO hopes, will get bogged down and degraded in Ukraine. China flies warplanes into Taiwan’s air defense zone and the U.S. sends naval shipsthrough the Taiwan Strait which connects the South and East China seas. At no time, including the Cuban missile crisis, have we stood closer to the precipice of nuclear war.
