MANILA, Philippines — Motorists are advised to take alternate routes as heavy traffic is expected in the UP Diliman area due to the annual Lantern Parade on Friday. The University Avenue, from Jacinto Street to Quezon Hall and the whole Academic Oval, will be closed to traffic from 1 p.m. until midnight. The university will also cancel its "No UP Sticker/UP ID, No Entry" policy from 5 a.m. until midnight. The annual UP Diliman Lantern Parade will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. as an annual culmination activity for Christmas season in the campus. The annual parade began in 1922 with different colleges participating and going around the 2.2-kilometer academic oval inside the Diliman campus.
