A nasty front is quickly making its way up the country, bringing heavy rain and possible thunderstorms along with gale-force winds. Southland, Clutha and Fiordland will all receive heavy rain before it hits Oamaru about midday. It will hit the lower North Island, Levin and then New Plymouth, about midnight. Scattered rain hits central North Island and by the time it hits Hamilton then Auckland tomorrow morning it will be scaled down to isolated showers. It's unclear if it will have the same impact as heavy rain that hit some North Island centres last night.
