Heavy rain throughout the Hutt Valley has closed a road and car park in Lower Hutt. The city was hit by heavy rain throughout the day, with the MetService recording a total of about 20 millimetres falling, much of which was in the afternoon. Hutt City Council has warned road users to keep an eye out for surface flooding and overflowing drains. "This rain is likely to be heavy at times over the upper South Island, the lower North Island and also about Taranaki.
