It has been a wild week of weather across Manawatū and Horowhenua, leaving Palmerston North drenched from heavy rain showers. MetService meteorologist April Clark said there was a moderate thunderstorm risk in Manawatū on Wednesday and the type of clouds that had formed were causing the sporadic heavy showers. The heavy showers are just the latest in a bout of bad weather for Manawatū and Horowhenua. Rain through the week has meant sports grounds across Palmerston North are closed and will be reassessed on Friday morning. Further north, Ōhakune residents have been put on a boil-water notice due to bad weather.
