Some 350 families, or 1,500 persons, were evacuated in Bulacan on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2016, due to nonstop heavy rain brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by Typhoon Helen. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Wednesday morning that 356 families or 1,559 persons were sheltered in evacuation centers. Maria, 79 families (395 persons) were affected in two barangays. The provincial disaster risk reduction and management office in Bulacan also assisted stranded commuters from SM Marilao to Meycauayan and SM Marilao to Bocaue, the NDRRMC said. As of 7 a.m., heavy rainfall warning remained hoisted over Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Bataan and Cavite.
