The central regions of Malappuram, Vengara, Kottakkal, Valanchery, and Kondotty too received heavy and continuous showers. When Valanchery got 34.02 mm rain, Wandoor received 22.6 mm, Kalikavu 18.79 mm, and Chungathara 17.76 mm rain. Mannarkkad in Palakkad district adjoining Malappuram received only 6.08 mm rain. The authorities have issued orange alert for Malappuram district for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and yellow alert for Tuesday. Officials said there would be heavy rain in parts of the district for the next three days.
