Rayne Colman and Casey Labuschagne were forced to weather the heat last Tuesday night. Hamilton's run of scorching days has put major strain on the city's power grid and left some residents relying on generators. Further down the street, cousins Rayne Colman and Casey Labuschagne, and their children, aged six and eight, were also forced to sit through the heat. Normandy Avenue residents were better off, with residents saying their power outage only lasted about an hour. And on Clarkin Road in Fairfield, and further along on Hukanui Road, residents experienced power cuts of around three hours.
