The well-respected community advocate with St Anne's Youth and Community Centre, and subsequently The Avalon Centre, George, fondly known as Georgie, was well known to the countless young people and families he worked with. Formerly of Benson Drive, Cranmore, George passed away peacefully at Sligo University Hospital on Saturday last. Removal from his home took place on Monday morning, via the Avalon Centre, Chapel Street, Sligo, arriving at Saint Anne's Church for Mass of Christian burial at 11am. Many fond memories and anecdotal tales have been shared online, showing George's generosity and work in his community, and helping those within it. Sligo Champion
