Researchers at King's College London have identified genetic codes which create specific proteins that stimulate the body into creating healthy heart cells. The study also found that paramedics can inject these proteins into patients having a heart attack to prevent the death of heart cells, the Times reports. As the heart has no ability to repair itself, heart attack victims are often left with a scar that can lead to heart failure - but the new therapy could potentially transform cardiovascular medicine and prevent heart failure in victims.
