The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Thursday fixed March 2 to hear charge framing against Qamrul Islam, presidium member of the banned Awami League, and Rashed Khan Menon, president of the Workers Party, over alleged crimes against humanity during July Uprising. The two-member tribunal, led by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order on Thursday. Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam represented the prosecution in tribunal hearings as formal charges were filed on February 3 against Qamrul Islam and Rashed Khan Menon in connection with crimes against humanity during the anti-discrimination student movement in July–August 2024. Prosecutor Gazi M.H. Tamim stated that the two leaders face two cases of crimes against humanity, including involvement in the killing of 23 individuals.
