Healthcare system infrastructure – The Manila Times

Health infrastructure and human resources need to be more evenly distributed across the country. Our health facilities and health professionals are mainly concentrated in Metro Manila and other major cities because of higher population densities. With our population of 105 million, to meet WHO standards we should have 525,000 hospital beds. As a result, the government is rushing to convert major facilities to highly effective quarantine facilities in Metro Manila. Our urban plans should not only focus on land use and zoning, these should equally prioritize health care response systems, mobility and infrastructure.
