Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection's Communicable Disease Branch is calling on citizens to avoid in-person holiday gatherings this Christmas. Chuang said the cases these days are possibly stemmed from family gatherings during Winter Solstice, with individuals found infected from family gatherings having nearly 13 to 16 attendees. “The risk of infection during such family gatherings is high. With some patients being asymptomatic, they might transmit the virus to others not knowingly while attending another Christmas party, the virus may then spread like wildfire,” stressed Chuang. She reminded citizens to stay vigilant during the holidays and try their best to avoid gatherings.
