Security guards working at medical facilities across Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality have been left in the lurch, with many still waiting to be paid salaries from January. Xhobani Security Services says salaries can only be paid once the health department settles its debt of R3 million. The company, Xhobani Security Services, says it can't pay until the provincial Department of Health pays its outstanding debt of R3 million, according to GroundUp. Xhobani Security Services ended its contract with the department in February, a month early. Eastern Cape health department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said: "This particular company (Xhobani) chose to abandon the site."
