KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysians gather at Ramadan bazaars and iftar events, the Health Ministry has urged the public to stay vigilant against tuberculosis (TB), particularly in crowded and enclosed settings. The ministry said 596 new TB cases were reported nationwide during the sixth epidemiological week. This latest figure brings the total number of TB cases in the country to 3,161. “Ramadan itself is not a cause of TB transmission. Kelantan recorded 121 cases, Pahang 103 cases, Terengganu 74 cases, and Negeri Sembilan 62 cases.
