Forty-four years of working at Middlemore Hospital has been challenging, rewarding and about making a difference for Dot McKeen. The general manager of the hospital's "troubleshooting centre", Middlemore Central, is retiring next month after witnessing changes big and small in one of New Zealand's largest hospitals. Middlemore is a very sensible, ordinary, every-day place, where everybody helps everybody else," McKeen said. The doctors help; the cleaners help; everybody helps.
