After severing his spine in a 2009 dirt-bike crash, Joey Desjardins found himself in a hospital bed, unable to move. The native of Hawkesbury, Ont., severed his spine at the T5 level, which left him paralyzed from the chest down. Desjardins spent months in the hospital learning how to move again. Twelve years later, he is heading to Tokyo this summer where he hopes to take in each and every moment of his first Paralympic experience.
