Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched the Dhaka-Bhanga train route along the Padma Bridge, marking the culmination of a long-held dream of establishing rail connectivity between the heartland and southwestern districts across the mighty river. Hasina inaugurated the new passenger train service at Munshiganj's Mawa rail station on Tuesday. "The inauguration of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project marks the fulfilment of the dream of crossing the Padma River by train," she said. The premier emphasised the government's commitment to establishing an extensive rail network across the nation, revealing plans to expand train services to Barishal, Jhalakathi, and Patuakhali in the near future. She also highlighted the successful implementation of the self-financed Padma Bridge project despite numerous challenges and obstacles.
