Hasina floats Bangladesh's proposals at UN to end Rohingya crisis forever

Hasina was at the centre stage at the UNGA this year with the Rohingya crisis deepening along Bangladesh's border with Myanmar, crossed by over 430,000 refugees fleeing violence in Rakhine State in around a month. The UN fears the number may reach 1 million by the end of the year if the situation in Rakhine continues. Before her speech at the UNGA general debate, she cleared Bangladesh's stance over the protracted Rohingya crisis at several meetings at the UN Headquarters in New York. Rohingya refugees have their breakfast in Kutupalang Makeshift Refugee Camp in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, September 17, 2017. As Myanmar denies the Rohingyas citizenship, Hasina told the UNGA that the people of the ethnic group were living in Rakhine for centuries.
