On Eid day, many in the Muslim community in India wore black arm badges to protest at the lynching of Muslims in India. News of people wearing the badges, through the hastag – #EidWithBlackArmBand – went viral on Twitter. The hashtag started trending on Twitter after many from the religious community protested the recent killings on social media, reports The Indian Express. Other hashtags that made the round on the internet include #StopkillingMuslims and #Protestagainstlynching. In another report, the Times of India stated that several Muslims in Ranchi and Jamshedur wore black bands while offering Eid prayers on Monday to protest against the recent communal clashes in the Steel City and the recent lynching of Muslims across the country.
