But I’m not convinced that Disney truly understands the success of The Mandalorian. Spinning-off from the spin-off isn’t an inherently bad idea, but viewing The Mandalorian as a marketing platform for new Star Wars stories doesn’t sound particularly encouraging. The Mandalorian is great, but it doesn’t need to be the centre of Star Wars. The Star Wars universe is just as vast as the Marvel universe, a rich template filled with tropes from fantasy and sci-fi, echoing the tales of knights, samurai and gunslingers. And if Disney understands the appeal of The Mandalorian, then the future of Star Wars is bright.
