Both Mr. Lichtenstein and Mr. Brook wanted the theater to remain in an unfinished, distressed state — an archaeological link to the past. It is now the BAM Harvey Lichtenstein Theater — the Harvey, for short. Mr. Lichtenstein was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Bill Clinton in 1999.
