There could be no complaints, two reckless yellow cards and his sending-off epitomised a bad, ill-disciplined and disappointing night for England. Maguire’s recklessness cost England dear and James’ anger got the better of him as the night ended in anger and recriminations. James had actually been England’s best player on the night but you still cannot excuse that sort of behaviour and the real turning point was Maguire’s red card. England’s night started badly when Maguire who was booked after just five minutes for a nasty over-the-top challenge on Yussuf Poulsen. Four minutes later, England conceded a penalty after Pickford rushed out, Walker tried to clear and was adjudged to have fouled Thomas Delaney.
