Harmful radioactive tool stolen from SUV recovered by police

A nuclear gauge that contained a small amount of radioactive material has been recovered, police say. Police were able to locate the device close to where it was stolen, eventually returning it to its owner. But while the gauge was unaccounted for, police warned that any thief who had made off with the device could face a health risk given prolonged exposure. The gauge was stolen from an SUV, along with a variety of other tools, while it was parked in Woodbine between 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 7:50 a.m. the next morning. Police say over $23,000 worth of tools were stolen.
