Boat users needed to take care of themselves and be mindful of others on the water, especially when multiple water activities were taking place in close proximity, he said. Mr Rushbrook started the role as the harbourmaster in late October and vowed to promote best practice on the water across the region and to review signage, "refreshing'' it where necessary. Council maritime bylaws were being developed and would be open for public consultation next year, he said. "The main priority of these bylaws is to improve the safety of everyone engaging in water activity throughout the region.''
