Beer sales were introduced in grocery stores by Ontario’s previous Liberal government. While restaurants and bars could previously offer discounted happy hour drinks during a specified period each day, they couldn’t advertise it. The government says it will lift that happy hour advertising restriction by this summer. At brewery tap rooms, drinkers will now be able to get a full pint, rather than the 12-ounce servings that breweries were limited to under the old rules. Former Alberta cabinet minister Ken Hughes has been appointed to advise the premier on expanding alcohol sales, including to corner stores.
