Hanoi restaurant immortalizes $6 Bourdain-Obama meal by encasing table in protective glass

Bourdain recently posted a photo of the monument on Instagram, writing: “Not sure how I feel about this.”Restaurant Bun Cha Huong Lien has become so well-known for its two famous guests that it’s now commonly referred to as Bun Cha Obama in the Vietnamese capital, according to Viet Nam News. The BBC reports that the honour of having a meal memorialized is typically reserved for the country’s leaders, such as former Prime Minister Ho Chi Minh. But the restaurant owners say they were inspired to set up the installation based on customer requests. “The customers love it, many take photos next to the table,” Nguyen Thi Hang Nga, co-owner of the Bun Cha Huong Lien restaurant, told the BBC. It is not a PR gimmick, I don’t think we get more clientele.”
