Lewis Hamilton can seal a record-equaling seventh drivers' world title and set up talks for a new Mercedes contract at this weekend's Turkish Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Briton needs only to prevent Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas outscoring him by eight points to retain his crown and, in the eyes of many including former Ferrari rival Felipe Massa of Brazil, become the most successful in F1 history. A seventh championship would put him level with Massa's old Ferrari teammate Michael Schumacher for titles, but with the record for wins, poles and podium places and consecutive points finishes he is for many already the greatest. "Lewis can really be the best of the best," Massa said. Yet Hamilton left the Italian GP at Imola this month on an enigmatic note, suggesting after his 93rd win had secured Mercedes an unparalleled seventh consecutive constructors' championship that he may not return to racing in 2021.
