SOCHI, Russia — With Sebastian Vettel struggling with his tires, Lewis Hamilton set the pace Friday in the second practice session for the Russian Grand Prix. Hamilton was .199 seconds faster than Bottas in cool, overcast conditions, followed by the two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo. Needing to beat Hamilton in Sochi to cut into the British driver’s championship lead, Vettel was fifth, .543 off the pace. In the first session, Vettel was .05 seconds faster than Verstappen. McLaren and Williams struggled in Friday’s practice, with Williams driver Lance Stroll last in both sessions.
