Hamilton bylaw officers have laid the city's first charge against a business not enforcing Ontario's proof of vaccination policy. "We did have our first one this weekend, I do expect some more in the coming days based on some of the other enforcement activities we were doing this weekend," Thorne told media. He also said bylaw is prioritizing businesses openly saying they won't enforce vaccine certificates. One downtown restaurant closed its doors temporarily days after publicly stating it wouldn't enforce the vaccine passport. Thorne said many of those had to do with older public health precautions like masking, distancing and not posting the proper signage about COVID-19.
