HAMILTON — Posters advertising Hamilton Fringe Festival shows with LGBTQ and feminist themes have been defaced with Bible verses condemning homosexuality and female independence. On Saturday afternoon, festival organizers posted a photo on Twitter of posters for the show “S.C.U.M. : A Manifesto,” a satire about Valerie Solanas, the radical feminist who shot Andy Warhol. In the photo, the faces on the poster are obscured by stickers containing lines from the Book of Romans about women’s inferiority to men. Hamilton city councillor Matthew Green posted a video to Twitter on Sunday morning denouncing the defacement and expressing support for the artists and audience members affected.
