Halton cop charged with theft after allegedly stealing wallet from crime scene

A Halton police officer with seven years’ experience is facing charges for allegedly stealing a wallet during a break-and-enter investigation last December. The 29-year-old officer has been suspended from duty, with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation, according to a statement from the Halton Regional Police Service. Michael Kellas faces one count each of theft of a credit card, possession or use of a stolen credit card, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He is due to appear in a Milton courthouse on March 5.
