Meetings of Halifax Water's board of commissioners will soon be open to the public. The board passed a resolution on Sept. 27 to open future meetings. Board chair Ray Ritcey said in a news release that the move illustrates Halifax Water's "continued commitment to the customers we serve." "I would say that Halifax Water is the only agency, board, commission that does not have that needed level of transparency, that does not have the accountability. "They run at arm's length, they're a monopoly and for all those reasons, their books, their reports, their plans and their board meetings need to be open to the public."
