HALIFAX — Police in Halifax say a 57-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene immediately afterwards. Halifax Regional Police investigating the scene of a fatal collision between a car and pedestrian on Feb. 22 in Dartmouth. ( Philip Croucher / The Star Halifax )Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. He also couldn’t say definitively whether the man killed was in the Mayfield St. crosswalk when he was struck. “We couldn’t speculate as to why until we speak to the driver,” MacLeod said as to what happened and why the vehicle left.
