London, Sept. 23: More than half a million have signed a petition urging the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to reverse the ban on Uber announced yesterday. A racial element is also involved since a high proportion of Uber drivers appears to be non-white, often African and frequently Muslim, while black cab drivers are generally from the white working classes traditionally with right wing views. Uber is set to lodge an appeal in the courts and will be able to operate until the legal processes are exhausted. Kajal Odedra, UK director at Change.org, where Uber's petition was launched, said: "That is the fastest growing petition we've seen in the UK this year. "I have every sympathy with Uber drivers and customers affected by this decision but their anger really should be directed at Uber.
