KUALA LUMPUR: Loob Holding Sdn Bhd reaffirmed that all its 165 Chatime outlets use only halal-certified ingredients, in response to yesterday’s statement by Chatime brand owner La Kaffa International Co Ltd casting doubt over Loob’s halal certification. La Kaffa’s Chatime ingredients are checked by a halal association, he added. In a new development, the Taiwanese bubble tea brand owner also announced during the same conference that it has identified a possible Malaysian franchisee, but has “not signed any agreement yet”. The company said that 40 to 50 current Chatime sub-franchisees have chosen to go with the Chatime brand instead of Loob’s new brand. The announcement came to light following Loob’s announcement that it will move ahead with its own brand at all 165 Chatime outlets, accepting its termination as master franchisee for the bubble tea brand.
