PETALING JAYA: Several businessmen and political leaders were presented awards for their achievements at the 30th World Hakka Conference, the second time the gathering was held in Malaysia. Altogether, five Global Outstanding Hakka Personality Awards and 21 Outstanding Malaysian Hakka Awards were dished out yesterday for those who contributed significantly to society. Also present at the event was MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. It has been two decades since Malaysia last played host to the biennial World Hakka Conference. “It is indeed nostalgic, if not deja vu, for me to pen some thoughts for the 30th World Hakka Conference.
