I’ve been to Haiti countless times since and I still consider myself a novice in trying to understand the place. I only briefly met Haitian President Jovenel Moïse in 2018 as part of a delegation with the Canadian government. I had heard sporadic things about President Moïse. From what I’ve read in the media, President Moïse was a polarizing figure. Whatever people thought of President Moïse, he deserved better than to die at the hands of hired thugs.
