Hairspray fires used to rob 3 businesses, police say

A 23-year-old man has been charged after igniting hairspray to allegedly rob several businesses. He allegedly took out a can of hairspray, sprayed it towards staff and ignited it before taking clothing. Then on July 1, a man ignited hairspray in the direction of staff at a drug store on the 700 block of St. Anne's Road, police said. The man and another person went into a clothing store on the 1300 block of McPhillips Street on June 25, police said. The next day two people went to a convenience store on the 100 block of Salter Street and used the hairspray fire technique to steal food and merchandise, police said.
